With the support of Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) the House passed H.R. 7511, the Laken Riley Act, legislation to hold criminal illegal aliens accountable and give states new tools to enforce immigration laws. The bill was approved with a bipartisan vote of 251-170.  

“The continued border chaos created by the Biden Administration’s policies has proven deadly to innocent Americans across our country and it must end,” said Congressman Posey, a cosponsor of the bill. “This legislation requires criminal illegal aliens to be detained and taken into custody and allows for states to sue the Department of Homeland Security and force it to do its job when it fails to act.” 

Last year Congressman Posey worked with Florida Attorney General to write and introduce similar legislation which supplies state officials with the ability to enforce immigration laws when federal agencies refuse to act. Posey said the open border also poses a great risk to our national security and it’s a dereliction of duty to stand by and watch the situation deteriorate.
