Rep. Posey's Statement on Border Security
Washington,
June 26, 2019
Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement concerning the need to address the crisis at the border:
“I am pleased to see the House finally recognize the crisis at our southern border. However, the legislation put forward (H.R. 3401) fails to address the root of the problem. The bill under-funds our border patrol by denying overworked agents much needed overtime pay, supplies no funding for detention beds at ICE facilities, under-funds immigration judges so our backlogs continue to grow, and denies requests from the Administration for more resources to tackle human trafficking at the border. I have been to our border and seen first hand how open and dangerous it has become. It’s time to get serious about the security of our nation and our communities.” |
