U.S. Representative Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) was joined by 22 of his House colleagues in writing to Attorney General Loretta Lynch calling for the appointment of a Special Counsel to continue the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of an unsecure private email server during her tenure at the State Department and the mishandling of classified information.
“For the first time in history a presumptive nominee for President with intimate ties to the Administration is under active investigation by the DOJ and FBI. The State Department’s Inspector General has already certified that at the very least Secretary Clinton’s actions violated information handling protocols at the State Department,” House Members said in their letter to Attorney General Lynch. “Regardless of the DOJ’s final determination with respect to this extraordinary case, many Americans will be critical of the investigation’s outcome. By appointing an independent third party as the Special Counsel, the Department would mitigate criticism and protect the public’s trust in our law enforcement institutions.” Read the full letter to Attorney General Lynch.
