Rep. Posey's Statement on the Omnibus Bill
Washington,
December 18, 2015
Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement regarding passage of the omnibus spending bill:
“With our national debt about to reach $19 trillion, it is past time for Washington to get serious about fixing our broken budget process,” said Congressman Bill Posey. “Despite the steady funding levels for our space program, the omnibus bill continues the irresponsible trend of rushing to pass another ‘too big to read’ spending bill at the eleventh hour. This must change. “Furthermore, our borders remain unsecured and the administration has no plan to take on ISIS. I find it troubling that taxpayer funding was approved for the controversial refugee program without any common sense safeguards to protect Americans from credible threats, even though such reforms received strong bipartisan support in the House. The bill also allows the President to make the first payment on the climate deal, an agreement which was crafted so Members of Congress will have no opportunity to review it, and it continues to allow tax dollars to flow to Planned Parenthood despite recent allegations of serious wrongdoing.” |
