Posey to Host Federal Contracting Conference

Congressman Bill Posey (R-FL) will host a Federal Contracting Conference at the Women’s Business Center at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida on Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Business leaders currently doing business with the federal government should register to attend on May 21. Business leaders who are NOT currently doing business with the federal government, but want to learn about the procurement process should register to attend on May 22.
“This is the chance for government contractors to have one-on-one meetings with procurement representatives from Washington, D.C., and the Space and Treasure Coast to explore new contracting opportunities,” said Congressman Bill Posey. “The Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech and the community are so thankful for Congressman Posey deciding to sponsor this conference. It will build on the success of the entrepreneur summits he hosted to support small businesses in his district,” said Ms. Donn Miller-Kermani, Ph.D., Florida Institute of Technology. “The Space Coast’s high-tech companies hold wide-ranging capabilities that can serve the federal government in a variety of capacities. Congressman Posey’s contracting forum provides an excellent opportunity for our businesses to learn the federal procurement process, potentially growing their customer base and enhancing their viability,” said Lynda Weatherman, president & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast. Other speakers include Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce, Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, FL MEP, Women In Defense, GCAT and special presentations by local defense contractors. The conference is free and open to business leaders who want to meet federal procurement representatives or to learn the federal procurement process.
