Posey to Host Second Entrepreneur Summit on January 11th

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) will host his second Entrepreneur Summit at the Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA) in Melbourne, Florida on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The summit is another opportunity for various entrepreneurs across the Space Coast region to showcase their innovative technologies to the public and potential investors. Presenters will include a wide array of industry sectors.

“This is another opportunity to bring local entrepreneurs together to share ideas and innovative technologies,” said Congressman Posey. “It is a chance for some entrepreneurs to showcase their technologies and products with potential investors.”

“The Entrepreneur Summit is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the innovative technologies and unique business concepts that will lead to a more competitive, diversified and strengthened Space Coast economy,” said Chester Straub, Technological Research and Development Authority.

“As economic downturns often spawn innovation, we applaud Congressman Posey’s efforts in creating a second Entrepreneur Summit,” said Lynda Weatherman, president & CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast. “Based on the success of the first event, we look forward to further initiatives from some of our region’s most promising entrepreneurs.”

“The Entrepreneur Summit never ceases to amaze me by reveling what innovative and forward-thinking companies we have in Congressman Posey’s district,” said Christine Michaels, President & CEO of the Melbourne Regional Chamber. “It gives them a chance to potentially find financing to implement these job-creating ideas, which is all-important in this economic climate.”

“The Entrepreneurial Summit is a wonderful venue for enabling local entrepreneurs to gain the exposure they need to attract potential investors. Thank you so much Congressman Posey and your remarkable staff for putting this all together,” said Donn E. Miller-Kermani, Director, Women’s Business Center, Florida Institute of Technology.

“Congressman Posey’s Entrepreneurial Summit offers Brevard County start-up organizations the opportunity to present their new technologies or products to potential investors while offering the community a glimpse of innovative ideas born in their own backyard,” said Vicki Northrup, President and CEO of the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce. “The city and Chamber of Commerce in Palm Bay are always on the lookout for new companies wishing to launch or expand and can offer assistance and support to them through the challenging early stages.”

The agenda includes a keynote address by Congressman Bill Posey and presentations by ASA Entertainment Group, Baer Air, Inc., Gravitec, Sanswire, SeaAway Family of Companies, Squeeze It, Inc., Structural Composites and Thorn Products.

Presenters will interact with a panel of entrepreneurial professionals including Richard McNeight, Founder of Federal Systems, Randall Poliner, Managing General partner of Antares Capital Corporation, Charles Reisnick, Managing Partner, Inflexion Management, John Igoe, Partner, Edwards, Angell, Palmer & Dodge, and Doug Hilmes, Managing Partner of Growth Innovators.

Other speakers include RJ Scaringe of Avera Motors, Florida Venture Forum, Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

Congressman Bill Posey is pleased to coordinate with Technological Research and Development Authority, Brevard Workforce, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, Small Business Development Center at Brevard Community College, Women’s Business Center at Florida Institute of Technology, and Space Florida in presenting the Space Coast Entrepreneur Summit.
