Today the House of Representatives passed a $789 Billion Democrat spending bill, the largest in history, with seven Democrats joining every Republican in opposing the measure. The legislation, which was drafted through a closed process with no Republican input, was released late last night with just 14 hours for the public to view the final 1,073 page document despite every member of Congress voting to allow the American people 48 hours to view the stimulus before a final vote.
“Congress just passed the largest spending bill in history and I can guarantee you, as stated on the House floor, not one member read the bill in full,” said Congressman Posey. “According to the Congressional Budget Office figures, this new so called stimulus only spends 11% of the funds in 2009. By what we can determine, it won’t have an immediate impact and does little to spur real, short-term or long-term economic growth that lets working Americans keep or spend more of their hard earned money. This legislation represents government at its biggest, and government at its worst. Some have called this Congress’ biggest generational theft ever, and I agree.” |
