Posey Announces 2020 Congressional Art Competition Winners

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) hosted the 2020 Congressional Art Competition, entitled “An Artistic Discovery,” on Thursday, April 29, 2020. Due to the coronavirus, this year’s competition was held remotely. The theme of this year’s artwork focused on the Lagoon. Three finalists were chosen, and two entries were also selected for special recognition. This year’s winning piece, titled “The Promise” By Michael Spears of Master’s Academy will be displayed in the United States Capitol in Washington, DC.
“I commend all of the students who competed this year,” said Congressman Posey. “Creative thinking is at the center of innovation which leads to advancement and paves the way to a stronger future.” 2020 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION FINALISTS: The 3rd Place Award goes to Adam Hicks of West Shore Jr./Sr. High for “Mosquito.” His teacher is James Finch. The 2nd Place Award goes to Rain Perlman of Merritt Island High for “At the Beach.” Her teacher is Lara Klopp. Best in Show (1st Place) goes to Michael Spears of Master’s Academy for “The Promise”. His teacher is Gerry Geary.
