Rep. Posey's Statement Honoring Memorial Day
Washington,
May 27, 2019
Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement honoring Memorial Day:
“Dating as far back as the end of the Civil War, our fellow Americans established the tradition of presenting flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers on what was known at the time as Decoration Day. In 1971 Congress set apart the last Monday in May as a national holiday for remembering and honoring the men and women who have died during service in the U.S. Military, declaring it Memorial Day. May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage has protected America and the freedoms we hold dear.” |
