Capitol Rotunda will be Closed to Tours from July 24th through September 5th

The United States Capitol Rotunda will close after the last Capitol tour on July 23, 2016, to finish the Capitol Dome Restoration Project, an endeavor to fix thousands of cracks and deficiencies in the Capitol Dome. The Capitol Dome has not undergone a complete restoration since 1959. The closure of the Rotunda marks the final phase of this project, as workers will be tasked with removing unsightly scaffolding and construction materials. Fortunately, the Capitol building, including the Capitol Visitor Center, will still be open for tours.
