Indian Harbor Beach Elementary School Named Blue Ribbon School
Melbourne,
September 9, 2010
Today, Ocean Breeze Elementary School has been named a 2010 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U. S. Department of Education. This award recognizes Ocean Breeze Elementary for their commitment to excellence in education for all children.
“Congratulations to the teachers, administrators, and especially the students of Ocean Breeze for achieving such high marks,” said Congressman Posey. “Their hard work and commitment to education is an example for other schools to strive for.” The Blue Ribbon Schools program was established in 1982 by former Secretary of Education, Terrell Bell, to honor public and private elementary, middle, and high schools whose students achieve at very high levels or have made significant progress and helped close gaps in achievement, especially among disadvantaged and minority students. Approximately 300 schools out of over 133,000 are given the award each year based on a school self-evaluation, written application, site visits, and selection by the review panel. |
