House Resolution Recognizes Hurricane Preparedness

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) has joined with 16 of his House colleagues in introducing H. Res. 1388, a bipartisan resolution recognizing National Hurricane Preparedness Week and raising awareness of the need to properly prepare for the potential hazards associated with strong hurricanes.

“Once again hurricane season is upon us and it’s time to start forming our plans,” said Congressman Posey. “There are resources out there for folks to utilize in getting ready – my website lists emergency numbers to keep handy and links to government agencies with helpful tips on what you should do in the event of an emergency.”

Specifically, Posey’s resolution recognizes National Hurricane Preparedness Week (May 23 –May 29), encourages those living in hurricane affected areas to develop a family disaster plan, an evacuation plan, and a disaster supply kit. The resolution also highlights the importance of obeying hurricane watches and warnings. “Just a little bit of planning now can save a lot of money in damages or worse later,” added Posey.
