Posey Announces Schedule for February District Work Period

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) has announced that he will be hosting public events focused on the economy and jobs; building relationships with area veterans, pastors and parents, discussing Space, and meeting with constituents one-on-one to discuss issues they are having with government agencies. Below is a list of public events, with indications for those that are open for press to attend.

In addition to the events listed below, Congressman Posey will also host a roundtable with representatives from local banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions to discuss regulatory reforms the Financial Services Committee is considering. He will attend the Indian River Prayer Breakfast and host two roundtable meetings with Pastors from across the 15th Congressional District, and across faith backgrounds, to discuss the resources and efforts of both faith based communities and his congressional casework efforts to serve those in need. He will also speak to a local Veterans club and have one-on-one meetings with local aerospace companies to discuss the President’s proposed plan for NASA’s future.

February 12, 2010:
* Osceola Workforce Development Board tour and Roundtable – 1:00 - 2:30 pm – 1392 E. Vine Street, Kissimmee, FL 34744.
Congressman Posey will tour the Osceola Workforce Development office and talk with staff and constituents who are on the front line of the current stagnant job market. After the tour, Congressman Posey will have a roundtable discussion with Workforce management, representatives from EDC and business community to discuss workforce development and business climate. Media is invited to sit in on the roundtable portion of the day.

February 16, 2010:
* Indian River Office Hours
– 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm - Indian River State College Richardson Center - 6155 College Lane, Vero Beach, FL.

This is an opportunity for Indian River County residents to meet with Congressman Posey and his casework staff regarding issues they might have with Federal agencies or programs, such as the Department of Veteran Affairs, Social Security, Medicare or the IRS.

* Sebastian Area Chamber of Commerce – 4:30 pm - 6:00pm –Sebastian Area Chamber of Commerce office located at 700 Main Street, Sebastian, FL.
Congressman Posey will be meeting with area business leaders to discuss the economic situation in Sebastian, Florida and the entire nation. Media is invited to attend the reception.

February 17, 2010:
* Brevard Office Hours – 10:30 am - 3:00 pm – 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Brevard County Government Complex, Second Floor, Building C, Melbourne, FL 32940.

This is an opportunity for Brevard County residents to meet with Congressman Posey and his casework staff regarding issues they might have with Federal agencies or programs, such as the Department of Veteran Affairs, Social Security, Medicare or the IRS.

February 18, 2010:
* Osceola Office Hours – Noon – 2:00 pm - Valencia Community College - 1800 Denn John Lane, Kissimmee.
Constituents may request appointment with Congressman Posey or staff by calling toll free 888-681-1776. This is an opportunity for Osceola and Polk County residents to meet with Congressman Posey and his casework staff regarding issues they might have with Federal agencies or programs, such as the Department of Veteran Affairs, Social Security, Medicare or the IRS.

* Veterans Summit – 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm - Osceola Council on Aging, Barney Veal Center - 700 Generation Point Kissimmee, FL, 34744.
Congressman Posey will be hosting a summit meeting with area Veteran group leaders and representatives from the Veterans Administration. Media is invited to attend the summit.

February 22, 2010:
* Kissimmee Flag Dedication – 11:00 am - Noon – Kissimmee Bay Country Club, 2801 Kissimmee Bay Blvd., Kissimmee, FL.
Congressman Posey secured an American Flag that was flown over the US Capital and will participate in the Flag Dedication Ceremony at the club. Media is invited to attend the Ceremony.

* Cyberspace Safety Forum – 6:30 pm – 8 pm – Florida Institute of Technology – Room 118, Olin Engineering Building, Auditorium, Melbourne, FL 32901.
Congressman Posey is hosting a Cyberspace Safety Forum to help inform constituents about issues such as protecting your computer, child online safety tips and safe mobile online communication practices. There will be a panel of presenters, with representatives from the Federal Trade Commission, Florida Attorney General’s Office, Florida Institute of Technology and the Brevard County Sheriff’s office.

All area residents, especially parents, are encouraged to attend and learn more about safe online practices. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Media is invited to attend the forum.
