House Passes Resolution to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence

The House of Representatives passed a resolution (H. Res 817) supporting National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and expressing the sense of the House that Congress should continue to raise awareness of domestic violence and its devastating effects on families and communities. Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge), a cosponsor of H.Res. 817, supported the resolution which passed unanimously last night.

“Domestic violence is a difficult issue because of its intimate nature,” said Congressman Posey. “When a family member or a loved one is the victim, they face life threatening situations in their home life which are not easy to escape or resolve on their own. They need the support of friends, family and the community to help them.”
