On Monday, October 26th Congressman Posey’s staff will host a summit with veteran leaders to continue to highlight the services that the Congressman’s Office has been providing to constituents who are military veterans. The event will take place in the Space Coast Room, 2nd Floor, at the Brevard Government Center, 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Building C, in Melbourne at 2 PM.

“There is no veteran issue too big or too small,” said Congressman Bill Posey. “Local veterans should know that if they are having a problem with a government agency, my staff and I are ready and eager to assist them. And this will also be a great opportunity to hear some ideas veterans may have on improving the services provided by the VA.”

Posey has voted for several bills aimed at better serving veterans and military retirees and several have already passed the House Floor since January such as the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act of 2009 (H.R. 1016). This legislation will provide better budgeting for our veterans by providing advanced funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Posey has cosponsored H.R. 295, The More Training for Veterans Act, providing additional training to help homeless veterans and those whose disabilities make employment more challenging. He supported passage of the Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act (H.R. 1211) to improve medical care for female Veterans, and the Disabled Military Retiree Relief Act of 2009 (H.R. 2990) which extends and enhances military retiree benefits for disabled veterans.

Other legislation Posey has worked to pass includes the Military Surviving Spouses Equity Act (H.R. 775) and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (H.R. 1171) to help homeless veterans find housing and work. Posey helped secure funding to complete VA hospital in Lake Nona, and supported the major expansion of the VA clinic in Viera.
