Tomorrow night residents of Brevard County will join with other citizens across the nation in participating in the annual Take Back The Night and send a powerful message about domestic violence, crime, and safe streets. Saturday’s event will be held at Front St. Park in Melbourne from 4 PM to 6:30 PM.

“It’s symbolic but a very important message that needs to be sent,” said Congressman Bill Posey. “We should not look the other way when we suspect that a friend, a family member or loved one has become the victim of domestic violence. It’s a very difficult situation that requires a caring approach and firm support.”

In Congress, Posey is a cosponsor of House Resolution 817 which supports the goals and ideals of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that Congress should continue to raise awareness of domestic violence in the United States and its devastating effects on families and communities, and support programs designed to end domestic violence.
