The 2018 National Estuaries Week Expo will explain the critical importance of estuaries to our economy and our coastal communities. A number of the federal agencies that support conservation and restoration of our nation’s estuaries will be on hand to meet with attendees. These iconic water bodies define these people’s quality of life: for their scenic beauty, for their recreational experience, for their commercial bounty, and for their protection of residential areas during extreme weather events. These unique systems are critical to our nation’s economy, culture, and natural heritage. This expo will be an informal setting for staffers to interact with representatives from USFWS, NOAA, and the EPA to learn about estuaries and exciting projects across the country aimed at enhancing and restoring estuaries, as well as great opportunity for staffers to ask questions about specific projects or work within their region or district.
