House Passes Legislation to Hold Senior VA Employees Accountable
Washington,
May 21, 2014
Today the House of Representatives passed legislation cosponsored by Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) to hold seniors employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable for malfeasance and mistreatment of our nation’s veterans seeking care at VA facilities.
“Veterans receiving care at our nation’s VA facilities deserve the best service possible and that has not happened in some VA facilities,” said Congressman Posey. “VA medical care is an earned benefit and we should keep our promise, period." Specifically, the Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act (H.R. 4031) allows the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to remove or demote an individual from the Senior Executive Service (SES). The Secretary is also required to submit a notice of removal as well as the reason for removal within 30 days to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in both the House and Senate. |
