Posey to Host Entrepreneur Summit in Brevard County Next Tuesday

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) will host another Entrepreneur Summit in Brevard County to continue efforts to bring together various entrepreneurs from across the 15th Congressional District to showcase their innovative technologies to the public and potential investors. The Entrepreneur Summit will take place in the Hartley Room at the Denius Student Center of the Florida Institute of Technology on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 8:00AM – 12Noon.

The May 17th summit is Posey’s third forum for local area entrepreneurs in Brevard County and his fourth entrepreneur summit overall. An Osceola County Entrepreneur Summit was held on April 27th in Kissimmee.

“These forums provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their new products and innovative technologies to the public and potential investors,” said Congressman Posey.

“Florida Tech and the Women’s Business Center are very honored to have Congressman Posey host the 3rd Entrepreneur Summit here on campus,” said Donn E. Miller-Kermani, Director of the Women's Business Center at FIT. “It is a great opportunity for our students, faculty and staff as well as the community to be exposed to such innovation. We are also privileged to have the winner of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s South Florida District, State of Florida, and Regional IV 2011 Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year receive his award at the summit.”

“The May 17 Entrepreneurial Summit is a testimony to Brevard’s commitment to small business and entrepreneurs,” said Victoria Peake, CBA Director of the Small Business Development Center at Brevard Community College. “The SBDC is proud of our clients who have been past presenters. The Summit has been an outstanding opportunity for entrepreneurs to highlight new ventures. The Summit is also a gathering of small business advocates, priceless resources and a showcase of local talent and ingenuity. The SBDC counselors and staff look forward to each Summit and encourage our clients to participate by applying to present or by attending to learn more from presenters, exhibitors and small business advocates. We look forward to an inspiring Summit next Tuesday.”

“Once again, the Palm Bay Chamber is thrilled to be mentoring and participating in Congressman Posey’s Entrepreneurial Summit. This gives our inventors the opportunity to get in front of potential investors that may offer them the funding to take their product or service mainstream,” said Victoria Northrup, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce.

The agenda includes a keynote address by Congressman Bill Posey and presentations by five companies. Carol Craig, President/CEO, Craig Technologies, will be a guest speaker. Other speakers include Florida Venture Forum, Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida, Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce and Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. Networking and a continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m.

Congressman Bill Posey is pleased to coordinate with the following organizations in presenting the Brevard County Entrepreneur Summit: Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech, Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA), Brevard Workforce, Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, Small Business Development Center at Brevard Community College, Brevard Community College and Space Florida.
