Posey to Tour Indian River Center for Alzheimer and Parkinson

On Wednesday, August 7th, Congressman Bill Posey will tour the Alzheimer/Parkinson Association of Indian River County and review some recently completed research. The Alzheimer/Parkinson Association of Indian River County serves community residents with disorders affecting their memory and movement, educates caregivers and the public, and provides a much needed support system for those affect by these disorders.

“Raising awareness for disorders like Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease is critical for maintaining the much needed support for research dollars and care for those affected by these conditions,” said Congressman Posey, who has been supportive of reprioritizing research grants at National Institutes of Health so more funding can be allocated to researching these diseases. “My father suffered from Parkinson’s and I have seen firsthand how this disorder affects loved ones.”

“I’m pleased the Congressman will be visiting us on Wednesday to view our programs and help create awareness for the work we do in our community,” said Peggy Cunningham, Executive Director of the Alzheimer/Parkinson Association of Indian River County.

The Alzheimer/Parkinson Association of Indian River County is unique in that it is solely supported by private funding and community volunteers.
