Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) will host the 2012 Congressional Art Competition on Saturday, April 14th at the Foosaner Art Museum’s Harris Auditorium in Melbourne. Students can bring their artwork between 9 AM and 10 AM. No late entries will be accepted. Formal award ceremonies begin at 11:30 AM. The competition is being held in Congressional Districts across the nation.

“This is a great opportunity for talented young artists in the 15th District to showcase their work,” said Congressman Posey. “I’m looking forward to viewing all of the entries this year.”

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all public, private, and home school students. Artwork must meet submission guidelines and all required forms must be completed and submitted with artwork for judging. The winning artwork will be displayed in the Capitol for the entire year and cannot be returned prior to the end of the exhibit. The first and second runners up will have their art displayed in Congressman Posey’s Washington and Florida offices respectively.

Special presentations include the Brevard Cultural Alliance, Foosaner Art Museum, Florida Institute of Technology, Brighthouse Networks, Gifford Youth Orchestra and the Osceola Center for the Arts.
