Congressman Posey joined with Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas in introducing H.R. 2259, the Stop the Revolving Door in Washington Act which would double the “cooling off” period before former members of the U.S. House of Representatives can begin lobbying Congress. Currently, House members are only required to wait one year before beginning to lobby their former colleagues, while Senators are required to wait two years. The bipartisan legislation introduced by Posey and Kosmas would double the “cooling off” time period to two years in order to ensure that members of Congress are not able to quickly make the move to lobbying.
