Posey Introduces Legislation to Require Members of Congress to Disclose Overseas Business Ties

Washington, April 11, 2018 -

As part of his “Drain the Swamp” initiative, Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) introduced legislation to amend the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 to require members of Congress and their immediate family to disclose business ties with foreign entities.

“This legislation increases congressional transparency by putting members of Congress and their immediate family on record about any and all financial ties overseas that may potentially pose a conflict of interest given their roles as public servants,” said Congressman Posey

The bill, H.R. 5469, specifically updates Member Financial Disclosures to have an additional item on the form: A Yes or No question on whether the member of Congress and his immediate family have any business ties with a foreign entity.
