Posey Salutes WWII Veterans on 70th Anniversary of D-Day Invasion

Melbourne, FL, June 6, 2014 -

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released following statement commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Allied Invasion of Normandy:

“Today we commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Allied Invasion of Normandy. On that day seventy years ago American soldiers, alongside their allies, led the charge to defend our freedoms and liberate Europe and the rest of the world from a great tyranny.

“We should always remember these citizen soldiers and their families, for their courage in answering the call to serve and sacrifice so that all future generations could inherit a nation – and a world – that is free and prosperous. Their sacrifices obligate us to preserve their memory and ensure that the liberties and values they fought so gallantly for will continue to be passed on.

“One of the greatest privileges that I have as a Member of Congress is when my wife Katie and I are invited to join local World War II veterans as they embark on their honor flights to visit their Memorial in Washington. On this special day we are reminded that while we owe all of our military veterans a great debt of gratitude, we owe a special debt to this 'Greatest Generation' of Americans and should do all we can to show our appreciation for their service and sacrifices.”
