House Passes Bill to Keep Government Open, Delay Health Care Law
Administration Has Already Provided 1300 Waivers and Delayed the Mandate for Large Employers until 2015

Washington, September 29, 2013 -

With the support of Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge), the U.S. House of Representatives today passed legislation to keep the federal government open until December 15, 2013 and avoid a shutdown. The new House-passed legislation also includes a one-year delay for the health care law. The House also passed and sent to the U.S. Senate a separate bill to guarantee troop pay should there be any lapse in appropriations.

“The Continuing Resolution keeps the federal government operating through December 15th, so there’s no disruption in vital services,” said Congressman Posey. “The legislation also delays the implementation and mandates of the health care law for one year, a privilege the Administration recently afforded to large businesses and over a thousand special interest groups.

“Many Americans are still struggling to find work and job creation continues to be frozen due to the many burdens this law has placed on our economy. Washington needs to get out of the way and stop impeding job creation so Americans can get back to work.”
