House Votes to Repeal Health Care Law

Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement regarding today’s vote on legislation to fully repeal the Obamacare law:

“I have heard from thousands of residents across the 8th District who have been adversely impacted by the President’s health care law,” said Congressman Bill Posey. “Some have said they wanted to keep the coverage they had but couldn’t. Others are being forced to pay more for less coverage, have lost their jobs or have had their hours cut due to mandates in the health care law. This is what some of them had to say:

“Norma in Indian River County said her ‘premiums increased $600 per year.’ Christine wrote that: ‘With no change in my health, my premiums went up 21% with a $2500 deductible.’ Ed in Titusville wrote of the impact on his children: ‘Both have had their work hours cut (due to Obamacare mandates).’ Another constituent in Melbourne stated her grandchildren lost their insurance because their employer could no longer afford the increased cost of the policy.

“Chris in Palm Bay says he ‘lost his job and was forced to move and pay higher insurance costs.’ A Merritt Island constituent called upset because the new health care law led to the loss of his medical insurance. He liked the coverage he had at the time through his wife’s full-time job, but the health care law forced her employer to cut her to part-time, eliminating their health insurance.

“One of the problems with passing ‘too big to read’ bills like the health care law is that they take years to be implemented, which creates a lot of uncertainty, empowers unelected bureaucrats to fill in the blanks of the law, and produces untold amounts of red tape, tax penalties and unforeseen consequences.”
