Rep. Posey’s Statement Concerning the President’s Proposal to Attack ISIS
Washington,
September 18, 2014
Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) issued the following statement concerning the President’s plan to use military force against ISIS:
“Sending our men and women in uniform into combat is a very serious matter and there are still too many basic unanswered questions concerning the President’s proposal. “Before we send America's sons and daughters into combat, we need to know who our allies are, and who our enemies are. This is a significant challenge considering their unpredictable allegiances. We need specific plans and goals in place. There must be a realistic plan to win, and a plan for what happens after ISIS is defeated. We need to think further ahead than just the day after tomorrow. “We also need more information about the ‘moderate rebel’ groups that the Administration proposes to arm such as their capabilities and what they hope to achieve. It seems some have not learned much from our past mistakes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt and Libya. “Finally, I believe the first step toward protecting Americans from terrorism involves securing our borders and points of entry, and maintaining operational control over them. It’s foolish not to.” |
